A little about my journey
Like many before me, I began my Natural health journey searching for answers. Cervical radiculopathy (a disease of the spinal nerve roots and nerves), led to spinal fusion in my neck. Sadly this was not the “fix” that I thought and left me existing for four years in debilitating chronic pain.
No matter what I tried, gentle exercise like yoga, weights, cardio, swimming ~ there was no relief from the pain or the drugs to try to manage it. An ever-changing, massive cocktail of heavy-duty opioids and neuropathic pain medications such as Lyrica, not only did not touch the sides of the pain but came with a whole range of particularly nasty side effects!
When I first began studying BHSc Naturopathy, I was still taking a cocktail of opioids for pain as well as my newest “accessory” fentanyl (morphine) patches 24/7.
The adverse side effects, from the drugs, along with the impact of living with a cycle of constant and chronic pain, were starting to take their toll systemically. I began to suffer gut dysfunction, which developed into autoimmune gastritis, discovered that I had osteopenia along with a side serving of fibromyalgia! All of this and I was only 44, there had to be a better way?
I have had a lifelong passion for nutrition, lived a pretty healthy lifestyle with two great kids, lots of travel, regular exercise and nutritious food. It was whilst working on my shakey health with a holistic GP & pain specialist, that I began my studies in BHSc Science in Naturopathy. Whilst at Uni, I started working with a Naturopath, and we started fine-tuning my nutrition, gradually replacing the opioids with herbal medicine and supplements. I began to use mindfulness and meditation tools and most importantly, to nourish myself with kindness.
Using food as medicine, with a personalised nutrition program, that has taken out the foods that are incompatible with my body, has been nothing short of life-changing for me. I see the Hair 600 program have this effect on so many of my clients. After all, as Hippocrates said many moons ago “all disease begins in the gut”.
Rebuilding life after chronic long term illness is not easy, the psychological scars can become so deeply ingrained, the voice in our head so LOUD.
I am here to tell you that it can be done, yes it takes hard work, it is not a quick fix.
Are you ready to take the first step to reclaim your health?
